Sodium bromide is an inorganic compound that finds use in pharmaceutical, oil and gas drilling and other industries as an antiseptic, detergent, reagent, and sedative. Available in the crystalline powder form, this compound has a salty and bitter taste. Given its solubility, it does not occur naturally but extracted from ocean water. This compound has anticonvulsant properties of any bromide salt.
